As well as our after hours service, we're now offering a 7am start to allow for flexibility with earlier calls and meetings. Make sure to let us know if this is a good time for you, and don't then be surprised to get an early morning phone call!
At the moment it's rather tight for top level positions but otherwise mostly business as usual with lots of buoyant sectors including Professional Services, IT spend and Indirect spend. Procurement candidates have been seeing good choice and some excellent offers though we are seeing final decisions taking longer than expected at times.
Interim roles are still quickly coming and going though everyone is having to be realistic about rates. Make sure to keep us updated on your current circumstances and what you are going be looking for.
Whether you're looking for a permant position, an interim placement, some specialist advice or market insight, our team is here to help. Call us today on 020 7993 5629 or email john@rbaglobal.com and see how we could work together.

What makes a good Procurement skills set?
It's a combination of being able to do the basic things well (e.g. planning, analysis, negotiation and implementation) and have a good understanding of the 'softer' skills (e.g. the ability to form and maintain relationships and effective communication).
What do you most value in your colleagues?
Honesty, team players and being open minded to change.
What media do you keep most up to date with?
In terms of publications I read Supply Management. I also receive a mixture of daily electronic media from suppliers and independents relating to my market sector and the commodities I manage.
What produces your best thinking?
Brainstorming with colleagues.
What are the biggest challenges you're facing at the moment?
As I currently work for the UK's largest house builder, the extremely challenging market conditions.
What keeps you sane in your job?
The variety of the role and the challenges it gives.
What might you ask a fellow Supply Chain professional here?
How do you raise Procurement's profile in your business?

With a significant degree of expense falling outside the control of travel category managers, innovative strategies are now required to maximise cost control as the effects of rising fuel costs are dramatically impacting every aspect of travel management. Travel managers must now not only plan for monthly increases in airfares, but also for increases in surface transportation and any other service that ultimately relies on fuel.
Organisations should where possible broaden their business focus to include non-traditional areas of T&E spend, for example, entertaining, parking and car service. These elements may not typically be viewed in the same way that global airline negotiations or TMC negotiations are, but they add up and can make a substantial contribution to the bottom line.
To drive these savings, the extended T&E supply chain needs to be controlled by using some well-established best practices. These include vendor sourcing and management, service provider sourcing and management, the right payment systems, and processing it through the right technology.

And on a lighter note, here's a favourite via YouTube where Tom Mabe sucks an unsuspecting cold caller deep into a murder rap! |
